Motorola has now started rolling out the update to Android 17 for the Signature, a smartphone that it launched in January. The update is a 5.75GB download, so make sure you grab it over a good enough connection.
Once installed, the Signature will be on software version A171WVH.21-16-1-3-4, which has to be the most convoluted naming scheme for smartphone software builds ever seen. The changelog offers “a fresh, expressive design,” reduced clutter with smarter notifications, faster multitasking with more apps being accessible at once, and extra security with “enhanced protection and controls”.
The update only seems to be going in India, but expected to be soon spread to other markets if everything goes according to plan, though it might take a few days or weeks for every device programmed for it to receive the update notification.
Motorola had earlier launched the Moto G Max in select global markets in June. The smartphone is now headed to India with a different set of specifications. The Moto G Max will debut in India on August 14 and will be available for purchase via the official company website and Flipkart.
It will be powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chipset, which will be paired with 6GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The phone will sport a 6.72-inch LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate and Full-HD+ resolution.
Motorola has confirmed that the Moto G Max will pack a 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, which is claimed to offer up to 3 days of battery life. It will support 30W wired fast charging.
For photography, the smartphone will offer a dual-rear camera setup with a 50MP Sony LYTIA 600 main sensor and an 8MP ultrawide unit. Selfies will be handled by a 32MP camera.
The Moto G Max will also offer an IP64 rating, stereo speakers, a 3.5mm headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. The phone will run Android 16 out-of-the-box with Motorola promising 2 OS upgrades and three years of security patches. It will be offered in Pantone Alaskan Blue, Pantone Malaga, and Pantone Stargazer color options.
